Part III

Part Three

“We interrupt this broadcast to announce a dire situation involving the President of the United States. The aircraft carrying the President, known as Air Force One, has reportedly crashed into the Atlantic ocean.

“President Bill Spencer was enroute early this morning to Germany where he would meet with German President Horst Kohler to discuss ongoing supply chain and cost issues with the pharmaceutical industry.

“We have no official word yet on the status of President Spencer or the cause of the incident, but anonymous reports claim electronic failure aboard the aircraft. An emergency White House press conference is expected to take place any moment.”

“We now cut to Press Secretary Catherine Parks in the White House.”

“Good morning, Americans. Today marks a new tragic event in American history. Air Force One carrying the President on his way to Germany, has crashed into the Atlantic approximately one hundred miles off the coast of Maryland. The aircraft departed Joint Base Andrews at eight-fifteen this morning and was reported by a trailing and escort aircraft thirty minutes later after they had lost radio communications with Air Force One. Soon after, they witnessed the aircraft dropping into the sea. At this time, we have surveillance aircraft in the area, and a portion of the Atlantic Fleet have been dispatched to recover the wreckage and any survivors. We do not yet have word from anyone on board, including the President. We do know that the fuselage is currently afloat but has been turned upside, impairing any visual assessment through its windows. We will update you with President Spencer’s status as we receive new information. I will now take your questions.”

“Has a cause been determined for the incident, and do you think it was a terrorist act?”

“Right now, we can only assume that Air Force One had and continues to experience complete electronic failure. We have no reason to assume that this is an act of terrorism.”

“Could this have been an EMP attack?”

“The aircraft is equipped with defense measures against electromagnetic pulses. We do not find that action to be plausible.”

“Why don’t we have word of the President’s status?”

“The aircraft above cannot get a visual indication. Ships that are en route are going full speed, but it may take some time before we know more.”

“Could anyone onboard have sabotaged Air Force One?”

“We have no initial evidence of sabotage, but it is unlikely. That is all the time we have for now. I ask the American people to pray for the safety of the President and the passengers onboard while we continue to give updates. Thank you.”

“That was White House press secretary Catherine Parks with the revelations that Air Force One has crashed into the Atlantic. We will keep you updated on new reports and continue to provide live coverage as it develops. This is Samantha Walsh with Channel Four News.”
